The Grill House, National City is a part of the wickedly good Mexican market, Big Ben, next door. You can get their warm take-out in the market, or sit down in this newly opened, clean and swank restaurant. It’s casual dining, where you go up to the counter to order. Prices are extremely reasonable and on nice days, the entire roof gets rolled back and you can enjoy open-air eating.
The restaurant has only been open for four months. The spaced used to be a parking lot for Big Ben, which has served the National City community for about thirty years.
Grill House, National City Menu!
Their menu includes Tacos galore: Pollo Assada, Carnitas, Carne Asada, Shrimp, Birria, and my favorite traditional items that most people care less for: Lengua and Tripa. Burritos, Quesadillas and Pollo Asada fries aren’t bad either.
But the real reason to go here is for one of their outstanding combination plates:
Carnitas and Chicken Tamales with Pasilla sauce ($9.99)
Chicken Asada with Roasted Ranchero sauce ($9.99)
Crazy Chicken and our famous Carnitas ($9.99)
Pork Adobada and Pork Tamales ($9.99)
Carne Asada with Roasted Ranchero Sauce ($10.99)
Friend Swordfish with Roasted Serrano Chili and Tomatoes ($10.99)
Pork Adobada and Pork Tamales
