The Salt Creek Golf Course is one of several golf courses in the South Bay. Interestingly, Chula Vista has one of the most comprehensive recycled water programs in the County and the Otay Water District’s recycling plant services the golf courses in this region.
I have already written about the two golf courses in Bonita. If you’re a fanatic about the sport, you’ll find a lot of playing time on these courses thanks to the exceptional year-round weather in these parts.
Well-known golfers lived and trained in this region. Salt Creek Golf Course has a few historic photos that testify to this fact, including this one in 1962 at the British Open at Royal Troon of Jack Nicklaus, Sam Sneak and Arnold Palmer.
The Sports section of the Union Tribune also has given Salt Creek ink. In September 2012 they ran a story titled: “A Round For The Record Books For Baek: Amazing 25 on front nine leads to a 60”. Salt Creek touts having been voted the Best Value Golf Course in San Diego And Awarded ‘Best Places to Play’ by Golf Digest.
They’ve got a cafe called The Grill serving breakfast and lunch daily, which include the Cali Wrap, a cheeseburger and other American comfort foods.
It’s serenely located next to the nature preserve and San Miguel Mountain. There’s a driving range and an 18-hole course. Plus, you can find teacher’s for all ages here and buy golf goodies at their Pro Shop.
